Meeting with the Labour Department Peninsular Malaysia, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia

On 5 December 2017,the Labour Department Peninsular Malaysia, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia called for a meeting on the issue of discrimination of female Muslim staff wearing the headscarf (hijab) in the Hotel industry. This meeting was called by the Ministry based on the complaints made by Majlis Rangkaian Kesatuan Sekerja Antarabangsa Malaysia (UNI Malaysia Labour Centre).

The meeting was chaired by Y.Bhg Tuan Wan Zulkifli bin Wan Setapa, Deputy Director General of the Labour Department Peninsular Malaysia and was attended by Majlis Rangkaian Kesatuan Sekerja Antarabangsa Malaysia (UNI-Malaysia Labour Centre (UNI MLC), Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC), Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF), Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC), Ministry Of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government.
