Young workers had increased for the past decade
with the growth of new industries and different type of works in the informal
economy. Seen as leaders of growth and
future trade union leaders, they need to be exposed to the changes taking place
in this ever changing landscape of this globalize world as they face more and
more difficulty in finding decent employment.
This workshop, a collaboration between UNI Apro and
The Federation of Information and Communication Technology Service Workers of
Japan (ICTJ) held on 4-7 December 2017 in Kuala Lumpur gives an opportunity for young participants to learn from each
other, build a network of international solidarity, learning the developments
of youth work in the trade unions learn the sources of rights for youth and as
the same time give youth the chance to develop strategies to protect their
rights both at the national and international level.
Being in the trade union means continues positive
personal development in their career and building a social dimension in all the
trade union’s activities. It is also
important that the young members of the trade union actively participate in the
decisions and policy issues affecting them and actively engage in resolving
these issue via the trade union. An area
of importance that young people can contribute to is in organizing workers into
the trade union.
