Working Visit by ASETUC Indonesia
Facilitated
by UNI Apro and ASETUC, a delegation from Indonesia had a 2 days study visit to
Malaysia. The delegation was consisted of: 1. Mr. Amri AK, Director of OSH,
Ministry of Manpower Indonesia, 2. Dr. Muchtar Lutfie, Chairman, Trilogi
University, 3. Mr. Ridwan Mahzun, General Chairman, Indonesian
Association of OSH Experts; 4. Mr. Parwito Wignyosumarto, Director of Nusantara
OSH Training Provider and 4. Mr. Kun Wardana, ASETUC’s Director of Operation.
The objective of this study visit was mainly to learn and share experiences
with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Malaysia.
On
the first day, 15 February 2016, the delegation visited Genting Highlands, to
get insight about how smart partnership has been practiced between the
Management of Genting Malaysia Berhad and the Genting Malaysia Berhad Workers
Union (GMBWU), a union affiliated to UNI-MLC.
On
the second day, 16 February, the delegation visited NIOSH’s office in Bangi.
Tuan Haji Zahrim Osman, Executive Director of NIOSH, took time out of his busy
schedule to greet the delegation. The meeting then continued with sharing from
NIOSH on how it operates and how it is managed. The delegation raised some
questions and shared their experiences in Indonesia as well. After a fruitful
discussion, the NIOSH’s team led the delegation to visit their training centre.
After
the meaningful visit, the delegation was very impressed with how NIOSH operates
and how it is managed. They took back valuable lessons to Indonesia, and are
eager to implement NIOSH’s best practices in Indonesia.
