The 3RD UNI-APRO
P&M CONFERENCE PROFESSIONALS & MANAGERS GROUP “INCLUDING YOU :
STRENGTHENING P&M IN OUR UNION” was held on 02nd – 3rdDecember
2013 at Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur by the UNI-APRO P&M Sector in
co-operation with UNI-MLC and was attended by 100 over delegates, observers and
guests.
Conference
started with Bro. Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI-MLC giving his
welcome remarks followed by fraternal greetings from Bro. Ulff Bengttson, UNI
P&M World President, Presidential address by Bro. John De Payva, President
of UNI-APRO P&M/UNI-SLC Secretary General SMMWU Singapore and a key note
address by Regional Secretary of UNI-APRO, Bro. Christopher Ng.
Bro. Jayasri Priyalal, Director of
UNI APRO Finance, Professional & Managers Sector reported on UNI-APRO
Activities and thereafter conducted a discussion with participants before the
adoption of the report was done. Bro. Pav Akhtar, Director of UNI P&M
Sector UNI Global Union spoke on “Building a Vibrant P&M Network in
Asia & Pacific –Attractive to non-affiliates”. Dr. Parvinder Kler of
Griffith University Australia presented a paper on “Managing P&M
Talent;amidst Mobility and Migration Challenges in ASEAN and Asia &
Pacific”.
Conference participants were later divided into four
working groups for group discussions on four different themes concerning the
P&M Group. UNI-APRO P&M Committee lead by Bro. John De Payva were
re-elected with some changes in the titular membership from each country of
UNI-APRO.
