IKEA-MALAYSIA SIGNS 1ST COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT WITH UNION!!!

 

 

 

IKANO Pte Ltd and IKANO Pte. Ltd Employees Union signed their first collective agreement at 03.00 pm on 30.12.2013.

The Collective Agreement was signed between Ms. Roszalena Bt. Mohammad Mashurdi on behalf of IKANO Pte. Ltd (witnessed by Ms. Carolin E Lye Neo, Human Resource Manager of IKANO Pte Ltd) and Bro. Kamarul Ariffin on behalf of IKANO Pte. Ltd Employees Union. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Bro. Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal.

Some of the highlights of the agreement are as follows :-

1) Duration - 1st August 2012 - 31st July 2015 (3 years) 

2) Union recognized as exclusive bargaining body

3) Time off for union activities

4) Paternity leave (3 days)

5) Co-workers discount on IKEA goods

6) Child care leave (2 days)

7) Personal accident & hospitalization plan

It is a significant event in the history of organizing for UNI-MLC, UNI-APRO and UNI-SCORE and on behalf of UNI-MLC I would like to thank everyone for the continuous support as we have finally managed to sign the first CA.

It was a difficult task for UNI-MLC initially to organize these workers but subsequently with all our hard work and God's grace we manage to increase the membership number, the company then gave us voluntary recognition and now we have completed the final step that is to sign the first Collective Agreement.

From now on UNI-MLC and the union will hold several meetings with the members to explain the achievements and content of the Collective Agreement. 

The union and management will jointly monitor the implementation of the agreement from time to time.
