Courtesy Visit to the Minister of Human Resources Malaysia by the Executive Committee (Exco) of UNI-MLC Together with 28 Union Leaders and Members
A Courtesy Visit to the Honourable Minister of Human Resources Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan was held by the Executive Committee (Exco) of UNI-MLC together with 28 union leaders and members from various states across Malaysia on 25 February 2026 at Wisma HRD Corp, Kuala Lumpur.
The primary objective of this visit was to strengthen solidarity and enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia and UNI-MLC in safeguarding and promoting the interests of workers nationwide.
During the session, the Honourable Minister expressed appreciation for the dedication and consistent efforts of UNI-MLC in fostering a significant and harmonious industrial relationship. Furthermore, the Minister encouraged UNI-MLC to continue its constructive efforts towards building a strong and effective tripartite relationship among the government, employers, and workers, with a clear focus on workers’ benefits and welfare.
Also present at the courtesy visit were Dr. Hj. Mohd Shaharin bin Umar, Deputy Secretary-General (Policy & International), and Tuan Haji Mohd Asri bin Abdul Wahab, Director-General of Trade Union Affairs (JHEKS).
On behalf of UNI-MLC, Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI-MLC, conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Honourable Minister and officials of the Ministry for organising this meaningful engagement session and for providing UNI-MLC the opportunity to participate. He delivered an insightful presentation outlining an overview of UNI-MLC, highlighting its activities and initiatives undertaken over the past two decades to protect workers’ and trade union rights, promote occupational safety and health (OSH), and ensure the overall well-being of workers throughout Malaysia.In addition, he emphasised the importance of the “Smart Partnership” philosophy as a foundation for strengthening collaboration.
The courtesy visit reaffirmed the mutual commitment of both parties to uphold workers’ welfare and strengthen industrial harmony.
