Advisory Project Committee Meeting and Amcor Regional Network Meeting

9-11 April 2018, Kuala Lumpur

             

In cooperation with UNI Apro Graphical and Packaging and UNI MLC, UNI Graphical and Packaging convened the Advisory Project Committee Meeting of the Union to Union Project "Building Strategic Power in the MNCs in the Graphical and Packaging Sector" in Kuala Lumpur on 9-10 April 2018.

The meeting was followed by the Amcor Regional Network Meeting. This meeting looked at the Amcor company profile and recent developments in the company. Participants from each country namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden presented their national reports on the current situation in Amcor regarding organising, collective bargaining, labour relations etc.

The meeting was chaired by the UNI Apro President of Graphical and Packaging sector, Sis. Lorraine Cassin. Also present was Acting Head of Department of UNI Graphical & Packaging, Bro. Nicola Konstantinou, Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI MLC and Bro Rajendra Acharya, UNI Apro Assistant Regional Secretary and UNI Apro Director of Trade Union Development Activities.

On 11 April 2018, the participants had an opportunity to go on a field visit to the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia in Putrajaya to meet with the Deputy Director General of the Labour Department, Y.Bhg. Tuan Wan Zulkifli bin Wan Setapa.

The field visit also included a visit to the Rengo Packaging Malaysia Sdn Bhd plant to meet with the Management and Union of Rengo. This is because the delegation is aware of the excellent labour relationship shared between both the Management and Union of Rengo.
