Meeting between UNI MLC and Labour Department Peninsular Malaysia, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia

on the issue of discrimination of female Muslim Staff wearing the headscarf (hijab) in the hotel industry

Today on 29 November 2017, a delegation from UNI MLC lead by Y.Bhg Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal had a meeting with the Labour Department Peninsular Malaysia, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia at the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia in Putrajaya. The Meeting was chaired by Tuan Haji Safian bin Hamzah, Director of Enforcement, Labour Department Peninsular Malaysia.

The meeting lasted for an hour and during the meeting, UNI MLC handed over the list of 20 hotels where female Muslim staff are not allowed to wear the headscarf (hijab) while at work to the Ministry of Human Resources for further action.
