Occupational Safety & Health Conference was organized by UNI-MLC, UNI APRO & PERKESO on 23rd May 2023, Kuala Lumpur with the theme “A Safe and Healthy Work Environment is a Fundamental Right”.

 

The conference was officially inaugurated by YBhg. Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, the former Chairman of National Institute Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH). Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye is a well-known figure in championing OSH circle in Malaysia and ASEAN.

Bro. Rajendra Acharya, Regional Secretary UNI APRO expressed his gratitude and congratulated UNI-MLC and PERKESO for taking the right direction to organize this OSH National Conference in Kuala Lumpur. Bro. Rajendra also expressed the timing of this conference was very appropriate just after Covid-19 pandemic. During this period, many things has been learnt including the hardship and many other circumstances involved workers and their family.

Four speakers were invited to share their experience in this conference:

1. Effective Sleep Management to Increased Productivity for Malaysia Madani.
   Speaker: Profesor Dr. Louis Adaikalam, CEO Alpha International Training & Consultancy Sdn. Bhd.
   
   
2. Psychosocial Risks in the Workplace.
   Speaker: Ms. Siti Nurani Binti Hassan, Technical Specialist in Consulting, Research & Development Department, NIOSH.
    
3. Mental Health in Workplace
   Speaker: Ms. Anita Abu Bakar, President Mental Illness Awareness and Support Association (MIASA) Malaysia.
   
   
4. Union & Employer Working in Partnership to Prevent Workplace Accidents
   Speaker: Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal,President UNI-MLC.

This auspicious gathering was attended by 100 leaders from 30 affiliated unions with UNI-MLC.
