On 1st May 2018, UNI MLC held its May Day celebration at Pos Malaysia Berhad. The celebration was an overwhelming success, opened by Y.Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lee Lam Thye, Chairman of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and attended by 200 trade union leaders and guests from all over Malaysia.
Also present at the celebration was Y.Bhg Tan Sri Zainal Rampak, Chairman of Kolej WIT and former President of MTUC, Y.Bhg Tuan Hj. Nor Azizan bin Tarja, Chief Commercial Officer Pos Malaysia Berhad, Y.Bhg Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI MLC, Y.Bhg Tuan Zaini bin Yaacob, Director of Industrial Relations Department, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur and Y.Bhg Puan Anita binti Ahmad, Director of Industrial Relations Department Selangor.
In conjunction with May Day celebration UNI MLC honored Y.Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lee Lam Thye, Chairman of National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in recognition of his continuous efforts to raise the standards of occupational safety and health for the workers in Malaysia. UNI-MLC President Y.Bhg Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal in his welcome speech said UNI MLC – consisting of 102 trade unions and over 550,000 members looks up toY.Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Seri Lee Lam Thye as a source of inspiration in their mission to enhance the standards of occupational safety and health in Malaysia.
During the celebration, UNI MLC also took the opportunity to honour 12 trade Union leaders who have inspired and motivated us with their sacrifice, contribution and commitment to trade unionism in Malaysia, the region and globe.
