𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 (𝐍𝐔𝐉) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐍𝐈 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 (𝐔𝐍𝐈-𝐌𝐋𝐂) 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬.

 


𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 (𝐍𝐔𝐉) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐍𝐈 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 (𝐔𝐍𝐈-𝐌𝐋𝐂) 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬. With the support of UNI-MLC, this seminar was fruitfully held on 17 June 2025 at Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur.

With the 20 participants of journalists, this full-day seminar aimed to strengthen the knowledge, leadership capacity, and solidarity of trade union leaders, with a focus on legislative developments, collective bargaining challenges, and future union strategies.

The Key Speakers delivered their effective speech on Solidarity and Union Leadership

  • 𝙎𝙙𝙧𝙖. 𝙇𝙤𝙬 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙖𝙩, President of NUJ, opened the session by emphasizing the power of solidarity in defending media freedom and journalists' welfare.


  • 𝘿𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙠 𝙈𝙤𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙛𝙞𝙚 𝘽𝙋 𝙈𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙡, President of UNI-MLC expressed his sincere gratitude to all the participant for their efforts and dedication to Trade Union. He also presented on “The Role & Responsibilities of Trade Union Leaders”, highlighting strategic leadership and collective unity.


  • 𝙔𝙗𝙧𝙨 𝙏𝙪𝙖𝙣 𝙃𝙖𝙟𝙞 𝘼𝙯𝙯𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙞𝙣 𝙃𝙖𝙟𝙞 𝘼𝙗𝙪 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙗, Director, Dept. of Trade Union Affairs (Selangor & WP), provided insights into the Trade Union Act 1959 (Amendment 2024), stressing union legal empowerment.


  • 𝙔𝙗𝙧𝙨 𝙏𝙪𝙖𝙣 𝘽𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙪𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙣 𝘽𝙞𝙣 𝙈𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙩, Director, Dept. of Industrial Relations (WP KL), addressed updates to the Industrial Relations Act 1967 and Company Union Regulations 2009, promoting adaptive union engagement.


  • 𝙎𝙙𝙧𝙖. 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙚 𝘽𝙞𝙣 𝙊𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙣, IR Officer at UNI-MLC, discussed “Challenges in Collective Bargaining & Its Impact”, offering practical approaches to fair negotiations.

The seminar concluded with an open dialogue on future plans (2025–2026), reinforcing a shared commitment to solidarity, united trade union leadership.
