Meeting with IKEA Management

Greetings from UNI Global Union-Malaysia

The meeting with the IKEA Management was held as scheduled today (11th March 2011) and was attended by the UNI-MLC team and the General Secretary of Ikano Sdn. Bhd. Employees Union. Mr. Mike King, the Store General Manager and Ms. Helle Woldby the Regional HR Manager of Ikano Retail Asia based in Singapore attended the meeting on behalf of the company.

Today's meeting gives us a clear "Breaking Through" between UNI-MLC Project Officer, Ikano Union and the Management of Ikano Sdn. Bhd. Both parties raised the importance of the existence of Trade Union with the co-workers in IKEA and subsequently talking about recognition.In conclusion both parties agreed to meet again in the near future to clear the ambiguities of the membership.

We will keep you posted on further developments.

I personally feel this meeting is very fruitful.
