Citibank Picketing by NUBE

Dear Colleague,

Today, 09th March 2011 about 300 members from Citibank who are members of NUBE picketed outside the Citibank Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the following grievances:

1. Outsourcing jobs to Philipines, Malaysians lose jobs but jobs created in Philipines. Bank claims Bank Negara approved it;
2. 4 months Overtime not paid;
3. Clericals forced to meet performance targets without the reward but middle and topmanagement enjoy big rewards and profits are siphoned out of Malaysia;
4. Gave 90 days maternity leave and 5 days paternity leave only to Officers and above;
5. Disparity in Child Care subsidies - some get RM 100 per child others get RM 50/-per family;
6. Employees threatened to withdraw complaints filed;
7. The Bank calls Malaysian worker "silly and stupid";
8. Disrespecting the Collective Agreement and the laws of the country;
9. Move to bust union and deprive union representation to abuse, cheat and exploit Malaysian workers;
