On 27th November 2023, Solidarity Meeting between Bro. Ambet Youson, General Secretary of Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI) Switzerland with Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI-MLC is held in Kuala Lumpur.

NATIONAL TRADE UNION ASSEMBLY 2023 14.11.2023 AT PICC PUTRAJAYA

 

Puan Kamasiah Binti Haji Taiban, President, Sarawak Telekom Malaysia Berhad Workers' Union (UTES) has been awarded as the TRADE UNION LEADER FOR YEAR 2023 (PRIVATE SECTOR CATEGORY) by the Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia.

This award was presented by YB Tuan V. Sivakumar, Minister of Human Resources at the National Trade Union Assembly 2023 at PICC Putrajaya. Also, present YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Bin Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, YBrs Tuan Kamal Bin Pardi, Director General of Trade Unions and attended by more than 500 trade union leaders from all over Malaysia at this event.

UNI-MLC President Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, congratulated Puan Kamasiah Binti Haji Taiban on her achievement and receiving this Award which is the highest national honor for her leadership.

Puan Kamasiah is the President of UTES, UNI-MLC Assistant Secretary for Sabah & Sarawak Affairs, UNI-MLC Women's Committee Secretary. She is also active in the Trade Union Movement at the UNI-APRO and UNI Global Union levels.

STRENGTHENING YOUTH VOICES IN ASIA PACIFIC TRADE UNIONS 6TH NOVEMBER 2023, KUALA LUMPUR

 

UNI-APRO Youth Workshop opening ceremony was held on 6th November 2023 at Grand Millennium Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. This event was coordinated by UNI Global Union, UNI-APRO & DGB.

Sis. Marta Maria Ochoa, Director of Youth at UNI Global Union and Global Coordinator for UNI Equal Opportunities, from Switzerland chaired the meeting by extending welcome to Bro. Rajendra Kumar Acharya, Regional Secretary of UNI-APRO and Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI-MLC, Sis. Michelle Belino, Director for Youth UNI-APRO, Sis. Tania and Bro. Chris from DGB.

Bro. Rajendra stated that we need to empower our youth to lead the union effectively and efficiently in the near future. UNI-APRO is focusing on organizing youth and hoping to continue this solidarity forever.

Datuk Shafie, extended a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to all the guests and delegations for participating in this meeting. In his speech, he highlighted the significance role of the younger generation in driving Trade Union forward. He also mentioned that Youth is power source of building future leaders. Therefore, we need to strengthen the young voice and their engagement with Trade Union.

30 participants from eight country participate in this workshop: Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Bangladesh & Malaysia.

‘Charity Ride’ event organised by UPUS & UNI-MLC was held on 4th November 2023

The Charity- Ride was begun through flag off at 8.00 am from POS Malaysia to Walidaina Orphanage, Jalan Pantai, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal , President of UNI-MLC, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the organisation (UPUS) for this great initiative. He also appreciated all contributors for making this event successful and sharing their precious time to successfully complete all the generous activities planned for orphans.
