Advisory Project Committee Meeting and Amcor Regional Network Meeting
9-11 April 2018, Kuala Lumpur
In cooperation with UNI Apro Graphical and Packaging and UNI MLC, UNI Graphical and Packaging convened the Advisory Project Committee Meeting of the Union to Union Project "Building Strategic Power in the MNCs in the Graphical and Packaging Sector" in Kuala Lumpur on 9-10 April 2018.
The meeting was followed by the Amcor Regional Network Meeting. This meeting looked at the Amcor company profile and recent developments in the company. Participants from each country namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Sweden presented their national reports on the current situation in Amcor regarding organising, collective bargaining, labour relations etc.
The meeting was chaired by the UNI Apro President of Graphical and Packaging sector, Sis. Lorraine Cassin. Also present was Acting Head of Department of UNI Graphical & Packaging, Bro. Nicola Konstantinou, Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI MLC and Bro Rajendra Acharya, UNI Apro Assistant Regional Secretary and UNI Apro Director of Trade Union Development Activities.
On 11 April 2018, the participants had an opportunity to go on a field visit to the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia in Putrajaya to meet with the Deputy Director General of the Labour Department, Y.Bhg. Tuan Wan Zulkifli bin Wan Setapa.
The field visit also included a visit to the Rengo Packaging Malaysia Sdn Bhd plant to meet with the Management and Union of Rengo. This is because the delegation is aware of the excellent labour relationship shared between both the Management and Union of Rengo.

9th April 2018, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd Employees Union signed
its 2nd Collective Agreement with the Company for a period of 2018-2020.
The
Company was represented by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Albern
Murthy and Chief Human Resources Officer, Mr. Haroon Bhatti while the
Union was represented by the President, Bro. Ismail bin Jonid and
Secretary, Sis. Junaidah binti Abang Karim. The signing ceremony was
witnessed by Y.Bhg. Tuan Khalid Bin Jali, Director General of Industrial Relations Department, Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia.
Also
present at the signing ceremony was Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal,
President of UNI MLC, Dr. Kun Wardana Abyoto, Director of UNI Apro -
ICTS Sector, and Ms. Cecilie Blydt Heuch, Executive Vice President Head
of Telenor Group People.

workshop for the Retail sector Unions in Malaysia on 3-4 April 2018 in
Kuala Lumpur.
Amongst those present were Bro. Koichi Nakano,

Zensen, Sis Hanae Nakano, UA Zensen Japan, Sis Alice Chang, Director of
UNI Apro Commerce and Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI

UNI MLC also invited guests speakers from the Ministry of Human Resources in Malaysia to deliver papers on the following topics:
- “Section 13, 18 & 20 of Industrial Relations Act 1967” By Encik Muhammad Al-Wadi bin Zakaria Assistant Director Industrial Relations Department Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia.
- “To Address all Forms of Discrimination Against Employees” By Encik Wazid bin Zaidon Assistant Director Labour Department Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia.
- “Section 57 & 64 (2)(a) TUA 1959” By Puan Zuraidah bt Ramli and Encik Faizal bin Tamin, AssistantDirectors of TradeUnions Department of Trade Union Affairs Wilayah Persekutuan & Selangor Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia.

The seminar was concluded with Datuk Mohamed Shafie's session on 'Case study on UNI MLC Blog' and group presentations.
