UNI-SCORE ORGANIZING WORKSHOP

The UNI-SCORE Orgazning Workshop was held on 22^nd October 2013 at the Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur. This workshop was attended by UNI-SCORE and UNI-APRO Officials, Bro, Neil Andersson (Head of UNI-SCORE), Sis. Joanna Katsoulas (Senior Organizer of UNI-SCORE), Bro, Rajendra Acharya(Director of Trade Union Development Activities UNI-APRO) , President of UNI-MLC, Bro. Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal along with 68 other trade union leaders and organizers.

This was a cross sectoral forum where old and new unions participate in group work discussing the challenges and strategies on collective actions concerning organizing  to achieve more concrete agenda with UNI-MLC in the future.

Bro. Neil, Sis. Joanna and Bro. Rajendra were very satisfied with the outcome of this workshop. Bro. Neil said it is good for UNI-SCORE to learn about the challenges in Malaysia because it helps them think about what can be done to help the current situation in Malaysia for a better future in organizing.

The only thing that he regrets is that it was not long enough. We had to push and squeeze so much in a small space of time. Perhaps on the next trip we could spend more time and learn more about each other.

COURTESY CALL BY UNI-MLC LEADERS TO CHIEF SECRETARY OF MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE, Y.BHG. DATO' SERI ZAINAL RAHIM BIN SEMAN

A delegation of 15 union leaders lead by Bro. Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI-Malaysia Labour Centre visited the Ministry of Human Resource in Putrajaya for a courtesy call with the Chief Secretary, Y.Bhg. Dato’ Seri Zainal Rahim bin Seman on 21st October 2013.

The purpose of this call was to appeal for UNI-MLC to be a part of the National Labour Advisory Council (NLAC) so we could actively participate and create social dialogue and smart partnership with employers and Government.

Another reason for this call was to seek to represent our affiliates under Seksyen 20 of the Industrial Relations Act 1967 to obtain natural justice.

SOCIAL VISIT BY UNIVERSITY MALAYA KELANTAN STUDENTS TO UNI-MLC HQ

On the 11^th October 2013, 15 MBA students from University Malaya Kelantan lead by Prof. Dr. Balakrishnan A/L Parasuraman visited UNI-Malaysia Labour Centre Headquarters.
