Seminar on Accident Prevention at the Workplace: Ergonomics by PERKESO collaboration with UNI-Malaysia Labour Centre (UNI-MLC)

 


The Seminar on Accident Prevention at the Workplace: Ergonomics, held on 24 July 2025 at Hotel Capitol in Kuala Lumpur, was organised by PERKESO in collaboration with UNI-Malaysia Labour Centre (UNI-MLC), with 50 active participation from Youth & Women. The seminar aimed to enhance awareness on ergonomic practices and strategies for accident prevention in the workplace.

The program began with an opening address by Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI-MLC. He highlighted the importance of negotiation skills and bargaining power in workplace relations and addressed key concerns around Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

The seminar featured an engaging and informative sessions:

Puan Siti Nurani Hassan, Technical Expert from the Consultation, Research & Development Department, NIOSH, presented "Ergonomics Health at Work: Recognize Early, Act Effectively." She described the OSH Act 1994, risk factor awareness, prevention of occupational diseases and poisoning, and workers' rights under OSH law.

YBrs Tuan Dr. Mohd Nizam Bin Jamaluddin, Director of PERKESO Rehabilitation Centre, Melaka, delivered a comprehensive presentation during his session on "Accident Prevention at the Workplace: Ergonomics."

YBrs Tuan Dr. Ahmad Syarifuddin Bin Ramlan, Head of the Social Health Section, PERKESO Kuala Lumpur, spoke on the "Workplace Disaster Recovery Program (RKB)." He emphasised the structure and objectives of employment injury treatment, highlighting commuting accidents, types of injuries, treatments, and the importance of the free health screening program.

Participants engaged in productive discussions to share insights and practices.

The seminar provided valuable knowledge and fostered collaboration in strengthening ergonomic practices and accident prevention strategies in the workplace.

The event concluded with a strong commitment by the participants to implement the knowledge and insights gained in their own workplaces to support safer, healthier working conditions.
