STRENGTHENING YOUTH VOICES IN ASIA PACIFIC TRADE UNIONS 6TH NOVEMBER 2023, KUALA LUMPUR

 

UNI-APRO Youth Workshop opening ceremony was held on 6th November 2023 at Grand Millennium Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. This event was coordinated by UNI Global Union, UNI-APRO & DGB.

Sis. Marta Maria Ochoa, Director of Youth at UNI Global Union and Global Coordinator for UNI Equal Opportunities, from Switzerland chaired the meeting by extending welcome to Bro. Rajendra Kumar Acharya, Regional Secretary of UNI-APRO and Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI-MLC, Sis. Michelle Belino, Director for Youth UNI-APRO, Sis. Tania and Bro. Chris from DGB.

Bro. Rajendra stated that we need to empower our youth to lead the union effectively and efficiently in the near future. UNI-APRO is focusing on organizing youth and hoping to continue this solidarity forever.

Datuk Shafie, extended a warm welcome and heartfelt gratitude to all the guests and delegations for participating in this meeting. In his speech, he highlighted the significance role of the younger generation in driving Trade Union forward. He also mentioned that Youth is power source of building future leaders. Therefore, we need to strengthen the young voice and their engagement with Trade Union.

30 participants from eight country participate in this workshop: Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Bangladesh & Malaysia.
