Bro. Jens Saverstam Head of International Department Union of Services & Communication Employees (SEKO) Vice World President of UNI Post and Logistics Solidarity Visit to Malaysia on 31st November 2023, Kuala Lumpur.
Solidarity meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur on 31st October 2023 attended by delegates from DHL Global Forwarding Workers Union, Ericsson Executive Union & NinjaVan activist.
Also attended Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal – President, Bro. Mohd Effendy Bin Abdul Ghani – General Secretary, Bro. Shaffie Bin Osman – Vice President and Bro. V.Mathialaghan – Treasurer.
Datuk Shafie welcome Bro. Jens who travel all the way from Europe to meet these delegations this morning and thanks to all the union leaders who participate this meeting. He expresses his appreciation to SEKO for the solidarity support for organizing works in Malaysia.
Bro. Jens briefly introduced himself with informing to the participants that he has been working 15 years with SEKO and supporting many unions on organizing activities in many countries.
Upon the request from Bro. Jens, a Q&A session was carried out to share information on Trade Union Development in Sweden and comparing the situation in Malaysia.
He also mentioned about the upcoming challenges for Trade Union in all the sectors of the global economy due to rapid changes by AI (Artificial Intelligence). We need to limit dependency on AI, otherwise Trade union organizing will be more difficult in future. Eventually, he described about the GIG Economy and its impacts on Job Market.
