UNI MLC Women and Youth Convention 2018

On 6th September 2018, UNI MLC held the UNI MLC Women and Youth Convention for the year 2018. 

The Convention was participated by 75 Women and Youth 

leaders from various Sector

 Unions

. Some of the sectors include Commerce, Finance, Telecommunications, Media and Entertainment, Gaming, Post and Logistics etc.

During the Convention, Y.Bhg Datuk Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal, President of UNI MLC gave his welcome address. The Convention was officially opened by Bro Christopher Ng, Regional Secretary of UNI Apro. Also present at the Convention was Sis. Alice Chang, Director of UNI Apro Commerce Sector and the Principal Officers of UNI MLC.

The purpose of this Convention is to create awareness among UNI MLC Women and Youth and to address the current issues and challenges faced by young workers in the era of digitalisation.

During this Convention, participants had the opportunity to:

• Explore and examine the qualities and skills of effective leaders
• Build support and solidarity among Union members
• Practice leadership skills by creating positive change in your Union
• Address Union challenges and establish smart partnership with Management during Collective Bargaining
• Address and Overcome Challenges faced by Workers in the era of digitalization

The Women and Youth leaders also had the opportunity to have a dialogue and Q&A session with the Director of Industrial Relations Department, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Y.Bhg Tuan Zaini bin Yaacob after he presented a paper on "The Importance of Practicing Smart Partnership  Philosophy to Maintain Harmonious Industrial Relations”. 

During the group discussion session,Participants were divided into two groups i.e. women and youth and among other things, they discussed and drafted the action plan for both the Women and Youth Committee for the period of 2018-2019.
